Congratulations! You’re now engaged to the person you want to spend the rest of your life with. The journey towards the start of married life is thrilling yet challenging. You have to prepare yourselves for a roller coaster ride while preparing for your wedding. Don’t worry, though; everything will be worth it in the end.

We won’t deny it; wedding preparations can be a bit stressful but you’ll get through it. You just need to start. And we’re here to help you with that.

Set the date and budget

After the proposal, the first two things that the couple should discuss are the date of their wedding and their budget. There may be a sudden change on the exact date and you may have to reschedule, but deciding immediately on that will help you a lot in looking for suppliers and booking them. Also, you are giving time for your family and friends to plan and reserve that day for you. On the other hand, you and your partner should talk about the budget, even if it is big or small. By doing so, you have a benchmark on all of your expenses.

Once you start planning, the date and the budget will determine the majority of your decisions for your wedding day.

Discuss ideas on what your wedding should be like

Will you have a rustic-themed wedding? Or are you going for a minimalist wedding? If you have a dream wedding, then you have a general view of what you already want. However, if you are lost and unsure of what you want, then you can go on Pinterest or Instagram to check out other wedding ideas. Either way, compiling images for your inspiration through a mood board is a great way to define the overall look of your wedding.

Make a list

A wedding planning checklist will assist you in organising your wedding. By having a checklist, you will know immediately what else you need to do or purchase. Instead of getting overwhelmed by everything, you will have the opportunity to prioritise from the most important items down to the least. A checklist of all the essentials and additions will help you stay calm during your planning.

If you are wondering which suppliers you need to add to your list, you can check out The National Wedding Directory. They have lists of suppliers per category.

Attend wedding expos

Wedding expos and bridal fairs are the best way of getting inspiration for your wedding and getting the most bang for your buck with special expo deals. Since there are suppliers during the event, you can see which of them would fit your requirements.  From venues and photographers to gown designers and jewellery, wedding expos have a variety of vendors that you can choose from. There are also promos and discounts given during expos, so you can make the most out of it. Moreover, you can discuss your wedding needs with these suppliers in person. Make sure to get their contact information if you will not book them on the spot.

Enjoy planning!

The most important factor in wedding planning is enjoying it. Getting married is one of the most important and magical experience for couples and the preparation is part of the journey. If you are getting stressed and pressured, you can rest for a while and get back once you are refreshed. Don’t let yourself forget the reason you are planning for this wedding in the first place: to get married to the person you love.
